Meet Your Instructor: Rayaa Brown

My name is Rayaa, I have been playing in the arts ever since I was a little girl. I started my artistic journey with acrylic paints and photography, which is what drove me to pursue a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP Program. I always thought I would either be a painter or a photographer, but then after avoiding taking ceramic classes in high school I took an introduction to wheel throwing class in college. At first, it was a disaster. After 3 weeks of daily practice, I was one failed attempt away from dropping the class when I finally made my first cylinder! After that I absolutely fell in love with pottery and have been practicing in the medium ever since. I believe that the arts are so important for the soul, and seeing people fall in love with their new artistic endeavor is what drives me to teach this unique skill!
