Family Arts Passport: Oct.31/Nov.1, Puccini's La Bohème Opera at CCM

from $25.00

About Family Arts Passport

Family Arts Passport is a new program from Wyoming Fine Arts Center that helps families navigate Cincinnati's major arts institutions together. This year, we're taking four trips:

  • La Bohème at CCM – October 31

  • The Art of Charley Harper at the Cincinnati Art Museum – January 24

  • CINCINNATI KING at Playhouse in the Park – February 27

  • A baseball-themed Family Concert with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra – April 3

Each trip has three parts. Before the event, we'll learn about what we're going to see and meet some of the people who make it. Then we'll experience it together. Afterward, we'll talk about what stood out and make art in response, led by teaching artists Sergio Aguillón-Mata and Annie Ruth.

We take care of the details. Every trip includes bus transportation from WFAC, tickets, and a meal.

La Bohème at CCM

Saturday, October 31, 2026 · 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Debrief and art-making: Sunday, November 1 · 2:00–3:30 PM at WFAC

Puccini's La Bohème follows a group of young artists in Paris as they fall in love, struggle to pay rent, and look after each other. It's one of the most performed operas in the world, and a good first opera. We'll see it at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), performed by students in its opera program.

Before the show, we'll tour the building, have lunch together, and hear from the singers about how an opera comes together.

Schedule

  • 11:30 AM – Depart WFAC by bus

  • 12:00 PM – Arrive at CCM, tour, and lunch

  • 2:00 PM – Performance in Corbett Auditorium

  • 3:30 PM – Return to WFAC

The next day at 2:00-3:30, we'll meet at WFAC to talk about what we saw and make art in response.

Included

  • Performance ticket

  • Bus transportation to and from WFAC

  • Lunch

  • Tour and conversation with the singers

  • Debrief and art-making session on November 1

Good to know

  • Best for ages 7 and up, but you know your kids. The opera is sung in Italian with English supertitles, and the story deals with illness and loss. Kids who can sit through a movie and enjoy big music usually do fine.

  • We will plan to leave at Intermission, so families can return home in time to prepare for Trick-Or-Treating. If you’d like to stay for the whole performance, please plan to drive separately from the group!

  • It's Halloween. Costumes are welcome!

Childcare at WFAC
Have younger kids? They can stay at WFAC for an afternoon about the same story. While you're at the opera, they'll learn about life in Paris, sing, and make art inspired by La Bohème. It's Halloween, so costumes are welcome. Childcare runs from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM and includes two peanut-free snacks (or pack your own). For ages 4 and up who aren't ready for the opera. Add it at checkout for $30 per child.

$55 per adult · $40 per student
