ARt-chiTech Lab - Teen Art Class (Oct 4 to 25)

$135.00

ARt-chiTech Lab is an augmented reality (AR) workshop. Create a painting that becomes a portal into a digital world.

In this four-week class, students will first create an original painting, then design a three-dimensional augmented reality experience connected to it. When the finished painting is scanned with an app, the digital world appears, bringing the artwork to life through images, words, sound, and video.

No painting, drawing, or technology experience is required. Students will learn each step of the process while exploring an entirely new way to create and share art.

  • Dates: Sundays, October 4, 11, 18, 25

    Registration Deadline: September 30 8:00a

  • Time: 3:30 - 5:30p

  • Ages: 12 to 18

Requirements: Personal Laptop, Personal Cell Phone and Earbuds

  • Instructor: Ingrid Woode

  • Location: Wyoming Fine Arts Center

Week 1: Create the Painting: Students will discover how artists and other creative professionals use augmented reality, then begin creating the physical artwork that will serve as the entrance to their digital experience.

Week 2: Build the Digital World: Using software on their laptops, students will begin designing a three-dimensional augmented reality experience and connecting it to their paintings.

Week 3: Add Words and Sound: Students will expand their projects by adding handwriting, text, sound, and other elements that reveal more of the story behind their artwork.

Week 4: Bring It All to Life: Students will add a digital video layer and complete their projects. They will then use an app to scan their paintings and experience the interactive augmented reality worlds they created.
