Meet Your Instructor: Ingrid Woode
From chemistry lab coat to artistry, Ingrid Woode is a versatile musician and visual storyteller whose work spans music, film, and multimedia innovation. A graduate of Tuskegee University, Ingrid began her career as a chemist while transitioning to pursue her passion for the arts full time. As a People’s Choice Award–winning songwriter, she has written and produced for Grammy- and Oscar-winning artists including Queen Latifah, Eric Seats, and Lalah Hathaway. The CSO has performed her piece, "When This Life Is Over", to a sold out audience at Music Hall. As musical director of the Woode Tribe Orchestra, her writing and music performances have taken her across the U.S. and most of Europe.
Beyond music, Ingrid is an accomplished filmmaker and photographer. Her short documentaries and docu-series have earned recognition, including King Me (2019), Fresh (2019), SONGOLOGY (2023), and BE STILL (2024). Innovative by nature, Ingrid combines her love for the arts and technology, becoming the first black woman to produce a city-wide augmented reality solo exhibition in Cincinnati, Ohio 2024. Ingrid's most recent short documentary Cake Walk, due to come out late 2026 has already started to garner attention within the film festival circuit. She recently received a grant from ArtsWave to produce a multi-medium photo project that includes Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), which will be on exhibit the summer and fall of 2026 at Cincinnati’s Contemporary Arts Center.
