GLOW Music

Join us for a special concert presented by GLOW Music, featuring piano, voice, violin, percussion, and bassoon. This evening showcases both established masterworks and vibrant contemporary pieces, performed by emerging artists building their professional careers.

GLOW Music works to break barriers between composers and performers, between conservatories and their neighborhoods, and between different languages and appearances. The organization creates meaningful performance opportunities for young classical musicians while building genuine connection between artists and the communities around them. GLOW champions both traditional repertoire and contemporary works, with a particular commitment to composers from historically underrepresented backgrounds.

Tickets are pay-what-you-can, with a minimum suggested $10 donation.

About the Musicians

South Korean pianist Dr. Yeon-Kyung Kim is a versatile performer whose work bridges traditional and contemporary classical repertoire. She has appeared throughout the United States, Northern Europe, and South Korea, and is particularly committed to collaborating with living composers and championing music beyond the standard canon. An active chamber musician, she is a founding member of the 10 Degree Trio and frequently performs with instrumentalists and vocalists in diverse repertoire. A passionate advocate for Korean art song, she has presented and performed this repertoire at College Music Society conferences. Dr. Kim serves as Teacher of Applied Music and Collaborative Pianist at Washington University in St. Louis and is the founder of Glow Music, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting emerging composers and community engagement.

Kimberly Legel is a Senior at Northern Kentucky University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Performance. A dedicated musician from an early age, Kimberly immersed herself in a variety of musical experiences, including choirs, concert bands, marching band competitions, and school musicals. Currently, she is an active member of the NKU Chamber Choir. Throughout her time at NKU, Kimberly has performed with all of the university's vocal ensembles and was Frasquita in the Opera's production of Carmen in 2024. She has also had the privilege of working with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in their production of All Without Words by Justin Morell. In addition to her academic and performance achievements, Kimberly’s passion for music has taken her abroad. In May of 2024, she traveled to Europe with the NKU Chamber Choir, where she worked on challenging repertoire, participated in workshops with the renowned tenor and bass ensemble Gesualdo 6, and performed at historical landmarks in London and Scotland.
