🎨 Watercolor for Beginners - Adult Art Class (April 7 - 28)

In the beginner-friendly class, students will learn basic techniques to paint with watercolor. This class is perfect for anyone who is looking to play with paint and build confidence with this beautiful, flowing medium. Whether you’re brand new or just want to loosen up your style, this class is all about experimenting, relaxing, and enjoying the process.

  • Dates: Tuesdays, April 7 - 28 (4 weeks)

  • Time: 6 to 9p

  • Ages: Adults (15+*)

  • Instructor: Emily Vaughn

  • Location: Wyoming Fine Arts Center

*ages 15, 16, and 17 must be accompanied by an adult. we offer flexible ages for the adult workshop for those who are looking for something fun to do with their teen kid.

Week 1: Introductions, materials, & color basics
Week 2: Begin small project
Week 3: Finish small projects, begin final project
Week 4: Finalize project & wrap up
Take Home: At minimum 2 completed paintings or more.
Skills & Knowledge Earned: Brush control & techniques, water control, color wheel understanding, color mixing, layering, transparency, and confidence

Meet Your Instructor: Emily Vaughn

Emily is a multimedia artist based in Dayton, Ohio, and she earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts graduate from the University of Cincinnati’s Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) program in 2022.

Some of her accomplishments include curating and facilitating a VR gallery space with over 65 international submissions and assisting with a mural project in Cincinnati in 2018. She has had her work displayed at the Tabula Rasa Gallery and a Puerto Rico- based university in 2019.The prevailing themes within her body of work revolve around flora & fauna, human nature, and reflection. She is able to convey these various themes using texture, color, and form. Ultimately, she wishes to make art an accessible and fun manner of expression to any and all people.
