🖌️ Mixed Media Painting Day! Family Art Workshop (April 19)

Work together as a family in this fun, hands-on mixed media studio led by Cincinnati-based artist Hanna Smith. Drawing inspiration from Hanna’s creative process of material experimentation (playing with how different materials behave, interact, and change), families will use acrylic paint, collage, and textured surfaces to work together on a single shared artwork. The finished piece is designed to be a meaningful display for your home and a reflection of your family’s shared creativity. The emphasis is on play, exploration, and working together, letting curiosity and the materials guide the process.

Meet Your Instructor: Hanna Smith

Hanna Smith is a Cincinnati-based mixed media artist whose work explores animal painting, denim-based artwork, and large-scale murals. Working across watercolor, colored pencil, acrylic, gouache, fabric paint, and collage, they are especially known for transforming denim through a combination of acrylic painting and fabric heat-setting techniques. Their practice blends fine art with material experimentation, drawing inspiration from texture, craft, and organic forms.

In addition to their studio practice, Hanna Smith is deeply engaged in arts education and community work. They currently work as a Mural Studio Assistant with Christian Dallas and serve as a Teaching Assistant with the Art Academy of Cincinnati in partnership with the Cincinnati Art Museum, and have previously worked as a Teaching Artist with ArtWorks Cincinnati, mentoring young artists and leading public mural projects. Their work has been exhibited at the O Street Museum and Mansion in Washington, DC, and is rooted in a commitment to accessibility, collaboration, and creative learning.
