🎶 Chamber Music Lab - for Intermediate to Advanced Instrumentalists (April 4 - May 9)

In this six-week chamber music intensive, intermediate and advanced instrumentalists will collaborate in small ensembles to rehearse, interpret, and perform compelling repertoire together. Students will develop rehearsal skills, musical leadership, and ensemble awareness while preparing for a culminating public performance at the Wyoming Fine Arts Center. Open to all musicians, not just WFAC private lesson students.

  • Dates: Saturdays, April 4 - May 9 (6 sessions)

  • Time: 10:30a - 12:00p

  • Requirement: Intermediate to advanced instrumentalists with at least two years of study and the ability to read music independently.

    Students must provide their own instrument. Pianists will have a piano provided.


    Additional Info:‍ ‍Students will audition for ensemble placement, but we will make every effort to include all students who enroll in the class.

Participants will:

  1. Develop ensemble communication skills, including cueing, listening, and musical negotiation.

  2. Build confidence as collaborative musicians rather than solely individual performers.

  3. Learn structured rehearsal techniques that promote independence and problem-solving.

  4. Strengthen stage presence and performance readiness through coached preparation.

Weekly Program Outline:

Week 1: Establish ensemble groups and rehearsal norms
Week 2: Develop effective rehearsal strategies
Week 3: Strengthen balance, blend, and ensemble tone
Week 4: Deepen interpretation and musical character
Week 5: Prepare for performance
Week 6: Execute confident public performance

Meet Your Instructor: SeaKyung Hur

Dr. SeaKyung Hur is a Violinist and Suzuki-certified educator who loves helping students of all ages discover joy and confidence through music.

She has taught at Northwestern University, the Boston Music Project, and several music schools in Boston and Korea.

She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance from Michigan State University, a Master of Music in Violin Performance and String Pedagogy from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Roosevelt University.

Dr. Hur currently maintains an active performance and teaching schedule in the Cincinnati area.
