Jack Early - Bass, Upright Bass
Availability: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays
Ages: 5+
Jack Early is a Cincinnati-based bassist, who regularly performs in and around the city in a wide range of ensembles. He has had the opportunity to work with and learn from jazz artists including Mike Wade, Tim Armacost, Lewis Nash, Ashlin Parker, and John Clayton, and has opened for Veronica Swift, Mavis Staples, and Mark Guiliana.
Inspired at a young age by the sounds of Jaco Pastorious and Charles Mingus, he was immediately drawn to the bass. His playing is heavily influenced by upright bassists such as Ray Brown and electric bassists like Pino Palladino and James Jamerson. Though jazz has been a central focus, he embraces a wide stylistic range and studies classical technique independently.
As an educator, his overriding philosophy is that music is an act of service and we should simply strive to make decisions that best serve the music. He is passionate about helping students of all ages find their voice and grow through music. In addition to private lessons and has also worked with organizations such as CPS Jazz Academy, JazzAlive, PB&Jams, and Cincinnati Jazz Hall of Fame and believes that the positive impact that music education can have on young people cannot be overstated.
