Family Piano Class, Book 1 – 5

Beginning Keyboard

For ages 5-1/2 to 12

14 weeks of classes, 1 recital / Parent participates with the child / 60 min class once a week.

Your child will gallop through the early levels of piano study, eager and excited to play piano! We drum, sing, play games and move to the music we are learning on the piano. Parents participate and help their child at home. Parents attend class with their children, participating in activities, learning to read rhythms, and taking notes to ensure a successful start to their child’s playing the keyboard/piano. Children (and parents) will:

  • play and recognize by ear major and minor key songs, play in five different hand positions,
  • read/write rhythms in duple and triple, and
  • begin sight-singing major key patterns on the staff.

Our goal is for the child to succeed and have fun. To facilitate this and to participate in this program, there will first be parent orientation.

PREREQUISITE: 1-2 years of Pre-Piano Classes at the Center OR equivalent. Child has to have some music knowledge before starting this class. Please call Ms. Mary at 513-259-4459 if interested in joining this class.

Private Viola Lessons

Wyoming_Arts_220-600pxWe know that children learn best when they’re excited, inspired, and eager to learn more. But not every great musician or artist is also a great teacher. At the Wyoming Fine Arts Center, we choose our faculty very carefully, looking not only at their education but also their experience in teaching and working with children. Many teachers also teach beginning adult students, so whether lessons you seek are for your child or yourself, we have a teacher to accommodate.

Viola Lessons are offered to all interested persons in the Greater Cincinnati region. To start lessons, you will first need to talk to our office staff about your student, your goals for the study, your availability for lessons and any other circumstances we should know in order to successfully match the student with an appropriate teacher. Student will then be matched by us with a viola teacher based on your interview (level of the student, your goals for the lessons, compatibility with the teacher, your availability during the week, and any other special circumstances). Viola lessons can be started at any time during the year. For lessons not started at the beginning of the quarter, tuition is prorated to reflect the start date.

Private viola lessons are billed in 12 week quarters. This assures our ability to retain some of the best teachers and provide our teachers with income stability. Except under a special circumstance, refunds are not available once you committed and paid for the lessons. Payment for lessons is due before the start of lessons. Payment plan is available. Please see our “Policies” page for details on refunds and cancellation.

Please call us now at 513-948-1900 or click here to contact us via our contact form. We can then call you.

  • Tuesdays 6-7:15 pm (for grades 2-4)
  • Saturdays 9-10 am (for grades K-2)

This course is the beginning of a yearlong ongoing curriculum that focuses on drawing in the first quarter and then builds to include printmaking, collage, painting and sculpture through Winter and Spring quarters. During studio art classes, students will learn to use a variety of art materials, processes and ideas through the guidance of the teacher. The studio environment is intentionally conducive to safely exploring, creating and working in a fun, collaborative space.

During the fall quarter, drawing skills are the focus of the curriculum. Drawing is the foundation of the art program for a number of reasons: it perfects fine motor skills in the younger student, discipline in all ages, and teaches students to see objects and the world around them in ways they never have before.

Students are active participants in their learning, choosing projects, materials and ideas to suit their particular skill level and experience, under the guidance of the instructor. If you have been through the art studio before, you can still continue the class (many students do!). There is much more to be learned and experienced! Veteran students will be offered new projects and challenges.

Art Classes for Adults

There’s nothing like rediscovering the joy of creating art. Whether your last art class was in grade school, or you’ve been developing your talent for years, our instructors can guide and coach you to the next level.

We offer art classes for high school students looking to expand their portfolio outside of school hours, as well as adults who want to build and nurture their skills. Explore them all, and experience the joy of creativity.

Art Classes for Kids

Creating and making is one of the most basic impulses a young child possesses.  We believe that encouraging the creative process helps promote a life time habit of exploration, personal expression, self awareness, confidence and problem solving skills.  In our art classes we like to provide the space for art discussion and collaboration.

Our art classes teach kids to look closely at the world around them, to learn to see it in new way, and to translate that into art. That’s a powerful tool that can help them thrive in many areas of life.

Our small class sizes ensure plenty of individual attention to make the most of your child’s natural talents. Take a look at our classes below, and give your kids a new way to see the world.
